EXS Synergy is a Kuala Lumpur-based company specializing in Integrated Explosion-Protection (Ex) Compliance, Asset Integrity Management and Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Control services particularly for the Oil, Gas, Petrochemical and Energy industries.

Established in 2014, EXS Synergy was formed during one of the most challenging periods for the industry when Brent Crude Oil crashed from a high of USD115 per barrel down to USD28 by January 2016 – the largest oil price decline in modern history. We weathered various early challenges in business and operations while registering tremendous growth, aided by the trust and responsibility from several key Clients.

In 2017, EXS Synergy made history by becoming the world’s first IECEx Certified Service Facility for Ex Inspection and Maintenance under the IECEx 03-4 scheme, allowing us to provide a globally-recognized Ex inspection and maintenance services, helping Asset Owners and Operators manage their explosion risks and ensure the integrity of their facilities.

With combined relevant experience of more than 95 years, our Management team ensures reliable service, competent workforce, safe working practices, world-class deliverables and practical solutions to our clients. Our Operations team comprises IECEx and CompEx-certified professionals for onshore and offshore deployment, ensuring the best output for projects with challenging requirements on quality, safety, schedule and budget.

EXS Synergy is licensed with PETRONAS and Malaysia’s Energy Commission, with active memberships in Malaysia Oil and Gas Services Council (MOGSC) and Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE).



Fairuz Yahaya graduated from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2003. He was a Professional Engineer registered with Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM), Chartered Engineer registered with UK Engineering Council, and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). He has 16 years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry, mainly in the FSO/FPSO sector, with a mix of Engineering, Project Management and Business Development role. Prior to founding EXS Synergy, he was SBM Offshore’s Business Development Manager for Asia Pacific region. His strengths are mainly in Business Development, Sales and Marketing. He is currently the Chairman of the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Working Group in Malaysia Oil and Gas Services Council (MOGSC), an industry-driven non-profit organization with membership of over 500 Malaysian oil and gas companies.


Siti Norani Samjuri has over 17 years of professional experience in the Oil and Gas industry, mainly in the Procurement and Supply Chain discipline, with a strong technical knowledge in Piping and Materials Engineering. She graduated from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Engineering in 2002 and worked in various multinational companies (MNC) for more than 10 years. Along with a few other partners, she founded EXS Synergy in 2014 to capitalize on the industry’s need for cost-effective solutions in the Explosion-Protection sector, driven by the Oil and Gas industry’s downturn. Her strengths are in Procurement, Administration, and Project Management, coupled with her eye for detail and determination to follow things through.


Fern Raja Harris has been in the Oil and Gas industry for 20 years, with her first eight years working at KBR (UK) Ltd after graduating with a BEng (Electrical) (Hons) from the University of Warwick. From Senior Electrical Engineer and then Technology Development Manager at SBM Offshore, Fern’s career has brought her to EXS Synergy in 2018 to become the Ex Responsible Person for Ex matters and technical matters beyond Ex. Fern’s strength is in educating, mentoring and advocating Ex awareness and safety in the Oil and Gas industry and she holds IECEx Ex001/007/008 Certificates of Personnel Competency. Fern is also a passionate Non-Governmental Individual, being the Founder of Friends of Kuala Woh and runs charitable programmes throughout the year with her friends and family.


Ahmad Lutfi Amir Mat Isa jointly founded EXS Synergy while running his own independent trading business, which was established earlier in 2012. Before embarking into business, Amir had spent all his previous 20 years professional life in the Oil and Gas industry, working for major EPC companies and oil corporations. He specialized in Supply Chain and Contracts Management and was involved in various EPCC projects for offshore fixed platforms, floaters (FPSO/MOPU) as well as onshore plant. His last employment was with SBM Offshore as Project Procurement Manager. Amir holds an Executive Diploma in Supply Chain Management from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). He is a strategic thinker and a strong advocator for data- and technology-driven way of work.
