EXS Synergy’s E&I Edge – Supporting Malaysia’s Fabricators with Confidence
In Malaysia’s energy and industrial projects, the success of a process skid or package system often depends on one critical yet underestimated element — Electrical
At EXS Synergy, we support asset owners, EPCs, and fabricators in managing explosion protection across the full lifecycle of their facilities – from design and installation through to inspection, rectification, and ongoing compliance.
Our approach combines IECEx-certified competence, practical engineering judgement, and digital enablement via our award-winning Ex Management Sysyem, intellEx, to ensure explosion protection is not just compliant on paper, but effective in operation.
As a PETRONAS-licensed and IECEx-certified Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) specialist with an expertise in hazardous area services for the Oil, Gas and Petrochemical sector, we are fully committed to assisting Asset Owners and Operators with our list of Explosion Protection services for hazardous areas.
It is our commitment to ensure that the installation, inspection and maintenance of Electrical and Instrumentations (E&I) adhere to IEC60079 standards. We conduct risk assessments to demonstrate an equivalent level of safety within an existing installation, and we also monitor the inspection and maintenance of Ex equipment all the way from design to installation. Other important inspection and protection services for hazardous areas also include Ex equipment certification, overhaul and repair, explosion investigation, and more.
We handle the full cycle of engineering, procurement, and installation for explosion-protected equipment—from specification and design verification to sourcing, installation, and commissioning. Clients receive clear deliverables such as datasheets, design documentation, and commissioning reports, ensuring compliance and transparency.
By serving as a single accountable partner, we simplify project management, reduce oversight burdens, and guarantee equipment performance and regulatory assurance throughout the process.
(IECEx Certified Service Facility – 03-4)
Inspection is the foundation of explosion protection in operating facilities. EXS Synergy is an IECEx Certified Service Facility under the IECEx 03-4 scheme for the inspection of Ex equipment, with a competent team trained to internationally recognised standards.
We perform:
We also support compliance documentation and lifecycle management, including:
Our inspection outputs are designed to be audit-ready, traceable, and actionable, supporting facility owners in meeting internal governance, regulatory, and insurer expectations.
We offer a digital solution for managing explosion-protected (Ex) asset compliance across the entire lifecycle. This includes a centralized dashboard and reporting tools that serve as a single source of truth for compliance status.
By streamlining compliance tracking, we help reduce risk, improve oversight, and boost operational efficiency—making Ex asset management more effective and reliable
We provide certification and consultancy services across key ISO standards, guiding clients through gap assessments, documentation, implementation, audits, and training. Deliverables include readiness support, audit reports, training materials, and management review documentation.
This helps organizations achieve certification with minimal disruption, strengthen compliance, and build staff competence—demonstrating commitment to industry standards and best practices.
We specialize in Ex training programs designed to build competency in explosion-protected systems. Our services include customized learning journeys, targeted content delivery, and Train-the-Trainer initiatives tailored to operational needs. Key deliverables cover training needs analysis, Ex-specific modules, and post-training evaluations.
This approach enhances workforce capability, aligns training with safety and compliance goals, and fosters a sustainable learning culture around Ex practices.

In the high-stakes O&M phase of Oil & Gas and Petrochemical facilities, “ignition control” is more than a technical requirement – it is the daily
An Ex hazardous area (also called an explosive atmosphere) is a location where flammable gases, vapours, mists or combustible dusts may be present in concentrations sufficient to cause an explosion if ignited. These areas are classified into zones (Zone 0, 1, and 2 for gases; Zone 20, 21, and 22 for dusts) under IEC 60079-10 standards, and all electrical equipment installed within them must be specifically certified for the zone classification in which it is installed.
IECEx 03-4 is the IECEx scheme for certification of Ex service facilities — organizations that inspect, maintain, repair and overhaul Ex equipment. EXS Synergy was the first company in the world to receive this certification, which means our quality management system and technical procedures have been independently verified against the most rigorous international standard for Ex service provision. For asset owners, this provides a higher level of assurance than non-certified service providers.
IEC60079-17 requires that Ex equipment be subject to initial inspection before first use, followed by periodic inspections at intervals determined by the criticality and environment of the installation. Typical periodic inspection intervals range from 1 to 3 years for detailed inspections, with close visual inspections conducted more frequently. Our team will recommend an appropriate inspection regime based on your specific installation.
Yes. EXS Synergy has extensive experience delivering hazardous area services across offshore platforms, FPSOs, FSOs and other marine oil and gas installations. Our team has worked on projects for PETRONAS, Murphy Oil, PPTEP and other major operators in the region.
